Who is Elaine?
Elaine Jimenez [e’lain he-men-ez] noun
- A Tar Heel in the Hussman School of Journalism pursuing her passion of writing and storytelling.
I am currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am working toward my Journalism degree in the Hussman School of Journalism. During my sophomore year, I declared a second major of Sociology.
Throughout my time at Carolina, I hope to explore multiple aspects of journalism, such as photojournalism, news editing, and graphic design. Later in my career as a Tarheel, I plan to pursue an internship that allows me to explore real-word experience working in the media.
After graduating in 2026, I plan to enter the workforce in my area of study. I aspire to work with digital or print media. While working as a journalist, I will aim to tell stories that expose others to experiences and lifestyles that differ from their own. I believe not only figures and statistics persuade an audience but also a real-life human connection that evokes emotion. Through working, I hope to continue to learn new skills that will improve the stories I tell.
